THE COMEDY WORKSHOP OF DOOM
Bob was a bored office worker who hated his job. He spent most of his days staring at his computer screen, typing meaningless reports, and listening to his boss yell at him. He dreamed of quitting his job and becoming a famous comedian, but he had no idea how to start.
One day, he saw an advertisement for a comedy workshop that promised to teach anyone how to write and perform hilarious jokes. Bob decided to sign up, hoping that this would be his chance to escape his dull life and pursue his passion.
The workshop was held at a local theater, where Bob met the instructor, a middle-aged man named Dave. Dave claimed to be a successful comedian who had performed in many shows and festivals. He said he was there to share his secrets and tips with the aspiring comedians.
Bob was eager to learn from Dave, but he soon realized that Dave was not a very good teacher. He mostly talked about himself and his achievements, and rarely gave any useful feedback or advice. He also seemed to have a very outdated and offensive sense of humor, making jokes about women, minorities, and other sensitive topics.
Bob was disappointed and frustrated, but he decided to stick with the workshop, hoping to learn something from the other participants. He also wanted to impress Dave and prove himself as a comedian.
The workshop lasted for six weeks, and at the end, Dave announced that there would be a final showcase, where each participant would perform a five-minute set in front of a live audience. He said this would be a great opportunity to showcase their talents and get exposure.
Bob was nervous and excited, but he felt confident that he had prepared a good set of jokes. He had written and rehearsed his material, and he had tested it on his friends and family, who had laughed and praised him.
The day of the showcase arrived, and Bob arrived at the theater early. He saw Dave, who greeted him with a smile.
"Hey, Bob, are you ready to rock the stage?" Dave asked.
"Yes, I am," Bob said. "I think I have a great set of jokes."
"Good, good," Dave said. "I'm sure you do. You know, I'm very proud of you. You've improved a lot since the first day of the workshop. You have a lot of potential, Bob."
"Thank you, Dave," Bob said, feeling touched. "That means a lot to me. You've been a great teacher."
Dave smiled and patted Bob on the shoulder. "Don't mention it, Bob. You're welcome. Now, go and get ready. You're on in ten minutes."
Bob nodded and went backstage. He checked his notes and practiced his jokes. He felt a surge of adrenaline and anticipation. He was ready to make his debut as a comedian.
He heard Dave announce his name and the applause of the audience. He walked on stage, holding the microphone. He saw the faces of the people in the crowd, waiting for him to make them laugh.
He smiled and said, "Hello, everyone. Thank you for coming. My name is Bob, and I'm here to tell you some jokes."
He paused and then delivered his first joke.
"So, the other day, I was walking down the street, and I saw a woman with a dog. And I thought, wow, what a cute dog. I wonder what breed it is. So I asked her, 'Excuse me, miss, what kind of dog is that?' And she said, 'It's a poodle.' And I said, 'Oh, really? Because it looks like a bitch.'"
He waited for the laughter, but there was none. There was only silence. He looked at the audience, and saw their shocked and angry expressions. He realized that he had made a terrible mistake.
He had used Dave's jokes.```
